1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness INTO his marvelous light. Once you were not a people BUT now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, BUT now you have received mercy.
Oh how he changes us.
We were once in darkness, now in light.
Once we were no one, now we are His, chosen and precious.
Once we were without mercy, and now it is given in abundance.
We were once in darkness, now in light.
Once we were no one, now we are His, chosen and precious.
Once we were without mercy, and now it is given in abundance.
And it is because of this the exiles are able to follow Peter's directions. To suffer graciously in the midst of injustice, to obey even the harshest master, to believe, to die to sin and live to righteousness.
What is the point of living this way? Who would choose to suffer in the face of injustice? I think it is those who would bring glory to God. To prove wrong those who are speaking and acting against the followers of Jesus. The only way to live this way is to be changed by the One who calls us to it.
Lord, thank you for changing me. That I don't have to live in darkness, in obscurity, in sin. You have called me yours, chosen, precious. And anyone who calls on your name may know this mercy too...
