Bible Study Guide

Starting to study 1 Peter today!  I will admit that it's a book I've tried to study before, and I have even posted pieces of what I learned, but something happens when studying on my own sometimes and there is often a fizzling out process.

So I'm looking forward to the accountability of learning with you and posting on all we discover about our God as we look at one of His servants.

The only thing we'll be working on between now and next week is reading the entire book of 1 Peter.   As you read, jot down some ideas that stand out to you.  Are there themes and thoughts that seem to occur frequently?  Who are the people involved?  Where is everything happening? What is happening?  Why was the book written?  When was it written?  How is Peter communicating to people and how is God communicating to us?

One of my favorite Bible study resources is How to Study Your Bible by Kay Arthur.  I will be using this to guide me.  You don't have to have that book to follow along but if you are interested in digging deeper it's a great investment.  I'll try to post some basic guidelines here as we go.  If you are familiar with Kay Arthur's studies, I won't be following it precisely.  It turns out I have a knack for getting too involved in the details and the big picture is often lust, thus the fizzling out I believe.

So read 1 Peter.  And then read it again...and again if you can to gain familiarity with it's 5 brief chapters.  And meet me back here on Tuesday!  Any new suggestions for study will be posted here in my pages section, and the actual results of our study will be on my regular blog postings.  So if you have questions as we go, this will be the place!  Bible study postings will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Thanks for joining me!
