Remembering That Day...

I was walking back to my dorm room after a morning class.  As I walked I could feel the energy about people.  There was a hushed hurry around me.  I had this feeling that there would be a new significance to this day.
When I arrived at my room, my roommate sat, gazing at the TV, drawing me to it.  I saw the planes, the flames, the buildings, the people, the debris.
We wept in our room.  We didn't know anyone who lived there.  Or who travelled there.  Or who knew anyone who knew anyone there.  And still we were overwhelmed with the loss, the pain, the uncertainty.

Romans 12:15 "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."

Now we rejoice for those who feared what might be lost.  For those who made it.  For those who have recovered.  For those who have been reunited.  For those who have the courage to continue to serve.  To go to work.  To get on a plane.

And we weep still.  For those who are missing the ones they love.  The ones they shared life with.  For the darkness.   And for those who haven't found the light.

And we hope...
